December 31 - Because of the ice
and snow on the Blue Ridge Parkway just up the road from
Craggy Gardens, we were forced to head back down the 20-mile decent.
But before we left, we figured we should snap a photo of our highest
reached elevation.
January 1 - We were blessed with absolutely
perfect weather everyday we were in Boone. We were happy
to find some people on the Parkway enjoying a New Year's picnic
nice enough to snap a picture for us.
January 3 - 98 hilly miles later,
Abby and Katy finally made it back to the Jetta on top of Grandfather
mountain. The ride was phenomenal, with miles of climbs and beautiful
scenery, only cut short due to the fact that it was well past
dark when they reached the car.
221 was one of our favorite roads
in Boone. It proved to be winding with gorgeous scenery
and a great climb if taken south. We even found a perfect little
cabin for sale just waiting for us...
