DEPAUW UNIVERSITYReturn to Results Index APRIL 8, 2001The inaugural Hoosier Cup season kicked off Sunday afternoon as the Indiana Masters/Roark team hosted the first event - a Masters 35+ race. The course was a .6 mile 4-corner, square centered on the picturesque campus of Depauw University in Greencastle, IN. Strong performances by a number of teams including Swope/Roark, Estridge, Children's First and Indiana Masters/Roark highlighted the day. The action started early when a break-away went clear 15 minutes into the race. Powering the break was Erik Fagerberg, Curtis Tolson and JT Everett of Swope/Roark and Dean Peterson of Children's First. The foursome wasted no time and shortly lapped the field. With no teammates in the break, Dean Peterson still held up his end of the bargain and was later dubbed Dean "never give up" Peterson by Erik Fagerberg. As a result of his effort, Dean Peterson took home the Most Aggressive Rider award with 13 points. Erik Fagerberg, with the help of a later break, went on to lap the field a second time and eventually won the race. Additional points primes for the Overall Points competition went to Mike McShane of Swope/Roark.
