The Racing Chronicles
w/ Bill Stone
Time
Trials or Mad Cows in the Feed Zone
I don't
want to meet college professors, captains of industry, old Olympians,
or men of distinction. I have never imagined wasting my time on
Vonnegut - who by the way got the bombing of Dresden completely
wrong, but then he shares with Bush the tranquility that comes from
not letting facts get in the way of a fantasy. I chose to live in
the far more dusted up never land of Joe Mitchell, Liebling and
Runyon.
You
can have the Chardonnay crowd; Labor has no use for such stuff.
Besides
I like nut case bike racers. But, them I like reefer, lesbian sex,
and until it near killed me cheap gin. There are people who now
play poker in fancy rooms who never knew the thrill of going broke
when the rent was due. They call what they do tournament poker;
I call it piffle. Time Trials are for people who want to do "their
best." Bike racing is for sick bent infidels trying to escape
such nonsense.
