KnoxieCross Winter Cyclocross Series: Race #3

Here is how things went down at Knoxie-Cross #3. In the spirit of Knoxville the Underwear Capitol of the World, I'll keep if brief.
To begin with, it was kind of cold. It is February and that comes with the territory. The A men started things off, with Michael Biegalski taking the win. He came straight up from his victory in the B's and went to the head of the A field. Chad Black (Nob Hill Velo) started well, picked up the TrueSport Prime and finished second, again. Kind of like Raymond Poulidor (his words), or Jan Ullrich without the drugs and the extra blood in a freezer. The TrueSport Prime had nothing to do with me this week, the first rider to clock a sub 6:25 lap in the race won the money. Finishing third after chasing back after a mechanical was David Bishop (Crystal).
In the B race Eric Marland (Boone Velo) rode flawlessly for a commanding victory, with Dan Werle (REMax/Yazoo) taking second and Caleb Ryan (Bike Zoo)single-speeding in for third. There were some pretty close battles in the B race this week which made for some good spectating and I can see from the finishing order that the series overall for the B race is going to get interesting.
Finally, there was a gigantor C/Women's/Junior's field. The TCRC won again with Mike Mefford taking the honors. However, there was no podium sweep as David Dillon took second. Dwayne Letterman (TCRC) overcame an early race tactical error to take third. In the Women's race a Whitaker prevailed again with Kayla (KnoxVelo) taking the top spot with Julie (KnoxVelo) taking third. Kim Bishop (TCRC) muscled in between the family podium party to take second. In the biggest junior field yet, Stephen Bassett won with Max Hanset in second and Taylor Durand taking third.
For the final race in the series come out to Melton Hill. If you wonder what the course is going to be like, start thinking motorcycle hill climb.
