Lexington Spring Circuit Race

Click image for Photo GalleryWell, the final round of the Kentuckiana Spring Training Series is history, held in Lexington, Kentucky, Saturday, April 1, in a small undeveloped business park. Great place for a circuit race, 1.2 miles, with 1 turn, and a mild uphill finish.The weather finally went our way also, with it being about 60-70 degrees, and sunny.
The 3/4's starting off the morning, with several breaks, including the winning break including Brian Schworm of Pedal Power, taking the line.
Next the womens race heated up with Erica Schuler of Team Bolla, and Bena Halecky of Pedal Power, going off the front for most of the race, coming down to a sprint, with Halecky taking the line by a half a wheel, (see picture).
The Juniors were with the Womens race, and the win going to Forest Hellebusch, also of Pedal Power.
The Masters 35+, was hotly contested mostly by Papa Johns and Texas Roadhouse, with "CT" Curtis Tolson and Brian Baker out front most of the race. Tolson had his way and cooked the competion, taking Texas Roadhouse for the win.
The 4/5/Citizen was packed with a record 65 racers, and tightly contested race, with several breakways, with nothing sticking. Fifteen year old Clayton Omer took the sprint very seriously, hitting the line first, raising his arms in triumph.
The last race of the series, was the PRO/1/2/3's, and with Papa Johns, and Texas Roadhouse, and Indiana Masters, several breaks formed, right off the front, coming down to another Texas Roadhouse victory going to Pat O'Donnell.
Well now that the spring training series is over, the season has arrived,and good luck to all for a great season of racing.
