What a day! The sun was shinning all day for the first time in many a moon. The racing wasn't to bad either. The course on Vashon is for the strong - just completing the race is a task in it self. No faking it on this course -either you got it or you don't.

The Pro category 1/2 mens race started out fast with Kyle Broderson (Saturn of Bellevue) going from the gun. The majority of the 43 rider field knew Kyle would be coming back - as usual - but the unfamiliar riders gave chase and brought Kyle back into the fold in just over a lap. Once Kyle was back - Paul Henderson (Canada) and Chris McGovern (The Valley) but in a counter attack and quickly gained one minute on the field over the next two laps. The main group kept active bring the two breakaway riders within 10 seconds on laps seven. Then it was like the pack detonated sending shrapnel out the back and the winning break of the front. Making the move was Rodney Henderson (Canada), Ron Schmeer (Nutra-Fig), Richard McClung (Pacific Financial Services) these three joined Paul and Chris to form five in the lead group - Game Over! These five road like pro's - which most of them are or were at one time - to leave the chasing group looking at each other for help. Ryan Perlman (Saturn of Bellevue) Rob Campbell (Pacific Finacial Services) and Russell Stevenson (Saturn of Bellevue) did manage to give chase leaving the main group with three laps to go - but the leaders were two strong. In the end the gap was three minutes with Rodney Henderson edging Richard McClung in a strong sprint to the line.
