News (5/12/99) from Bill Laudien -
  • This event is pre-registration only.  Send your Standard Entry Form in soon to be eligible to race.  I am planning on having a registration table set up somewhere at the Junior Road Championships at Letterkenny, so look for me there.
  • The 10-12 race is being reduced ( at the request of several competitors and parents) to two laps, 11 miles.  With the terrain and neutral roll over, this should still provide plenty of miles of racing.

PRE-REGISTRATION MANDATORY /  NO SAME DAY REGISTRATION

The race will be held on a rolling 5.5 mile loop. This is the same course that is known in Lancaster as the "Thursday loop".  The double yellow line will be in effect and there are plenty of places to safely pass.  The registration area is 4 miles from the start/finish and there will be a neutralized procession.  Limited parking will be available for spectators closer to the course and directions on where to park for spectators will be available at registration.  This is a fun safe course.

PRE-REGISTRATION MANDATORY /  NO SAME DAY REGISTRATION

The race is held in memory of Fred "Fritz" Kuhn.  Fritz dedicated his life to the sport of cycling.  As the owner of Kopp's cycles, a 100+ year old shop in Princeton N.J. and as president of the Century Road Club of America, the oldest and winingest club in the history of the US, he facilitated the development of hundreds of cyclist.  He had a special love for junior riders and dedicated countless hours to introducing the sport to young people. Riders under his tutelage included state champions, national champions, and Olympians.  The CRCof A team that he managed in the 70's will be honored this Memorial Day by being inducted into the Bicycling Hall of Fame.   Fritz's legacy lives on each day in the riders he inspired and in Kopp's Bike Shop, now owned by his son Charles.

Registration should include a standard USAC release form and checks can be made payable to  Bill Laudien. Please send all information to 298 Wagoners Way, Landisville, PA 17538.  Entries must be received by May 21, 1999 for riders to participate.

Directions to Registration: Take Route 30 to the Prospect road exit.   Exit North onto Prospect Road.  Go over the ridge and down the hill to the traffic light.  Across the intersection is Farmdale Elementary School.   Registration is held at the school.  Bathroom facilities are available at the school.

Questions can be directed to Bill Laudien at Laudien@aol.com or 717-892-1048

This is a tentative flyer.  USAC permit approval is still pending.
