Held under United States Cycling Federation race permit (99-1676)
- No late entry surcharge.
- Helmets must be worn at all times when on a bicycle.
- No Free Lap!
- Criterium finish rule applies: Lapped riders do not have to make up the extra laps.
- Last chance for IBRA USCF Iowa Rider of the Year points for the 1999 racing season.
- New USAC rules for this year allow NORBA licensees to race cyclocross events with their NORBA licenses.
- All events open to un-licensed riders. 1-day USCF racing licenses which will be available at the race for $5.00. 1-day licensees can race with the cat 5 for men or with their age group if they are under 19 or over 30.
- All events are open to out-of-state riders. USCF state championship medals for top three Iowa riders in each class.
- Riders under 18 will need a parent-signed standard entry form and release or a parent at the race to sign the entry form or a 1-day license.
- Mountain bikes are legal for cyclecross racing.
COURSE/DIRECTIONS: We are using the same new course as last year. Located on a privately owned farm 3 miles north of Shellsburg, Iowa. Shellsburg is located about 15 miles northwest of Cedar Rapids. Take county road W26 1 mile north out of Shellsburg to 63rd St. Take 63rd St about 1 mile west and then 31st Ave 1 mile north until you get to 31st Ave & 62nd St Trl. That is about 2 miles on gravel. Look for signs. Expect a fun & challenging course. The live cows will be mooved out before the race.
ENTRY FEES: $15 entry fee includes USCF insurance & IBRA district fee. A limited supply of xl & xxl Jack Piper original 'Dick does Dirt' shirts will be available for $10. The prizes will be USCF championship medals for all categories. An old bathroom scale will be used to determine eligibility for the Clydesdale category.
Volunteers are welcome to help lay out
course the weekends before.
