The course and warm windy weather conditions took its toll on riders in the 1999 edition of the Douglas Road Race. Perhaps the hills on the course were more challenging or the miles longer than some riders were ready for at this late date in the race schedule.

Thanks to all the riders who came out. I hope you enjoyed the racing. Your respect for the town of Douglas by parking in designated areas, disposing of litter properly and generally acting responsibly, will go a long way towards making a future edition of the Douglas Road Race possible.

Several riders had feedback on the race, and I appreciate that. We will take that into consideration when planning future races. If anyone else has comments on the race, please e-mail me.

Thanks to the members and friends of L'Etoile du Nord Cycling Club who volunteered to help run the event. And thanks to our officials, Matt Anderson and Bruce Brasaemle who worked very hard to keep things running smoothly, and to get the results figured out.
