Bethel Road Race '99, a United States Cycling Federation-sanctioned bicycle road race, was held in Bethel, North Carolina on April 18, 1999. The event attracted over 100 riders from North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Virginia including several international cyclists. This was the first bicycle road race held in eastern North Carolina in 8 years and indicates a resurgence of cycling in this area.

Bethel Road Race '99 was held by East Carolina Velo and the Bethel Rotary Club. Sponsorship came from The Bicycle Post, Blount Petroleum, Pepsi, Food Folks, Cannondale, Greenville Holiday Inn Express, Leonard Buildings and Truck Accessories, Grant Buick Mazda, and Metrics.

The race was part of the Bethel Bicycle Safety Weekend. The Saturday events included a bike rodeo, a stunt bike performance, picnic lunch and a community fun ride where all participants wore their helmets! The proceeds will be donated to the Pitt County Safe Communities Coalition and the Bethel Police Department Bicycle Patrol.
