Results

The second date in the Foley/Mansfield Track Racing Series was filled with lots of great action and the competition for the series standings is really heating up. Roger Parenteau (St. Croix Bike & Skate) and Bob Schwartz (Chippewa Valley Cycling Club) are in nearly a dead-heat for first place in the Senior Men Categories 1, 2 & 3 classification, with only 1 point separating their cumulative point totals. Parenteau virtually locked up first place for the series in the Master Men 35+ classification, distancing himself from the field. Doug Register (Federation of Christian Atheletes) is in control of his own destiny as far as second place in the Masters. In the Senior Men Categories 4 & 5, none of the leaders after the first race date came out to race, thus opening the field wide open. A fairly evenly matched quartet of riders mixed it up, and ended up with all four only being separated by a point in the omnium. Andrew Rivard   (Minneapolis Bicycle Racing Club) is the one to watch, however, as he only raced in two events, winning them both. Barb Harick (Minnesota Cycling Team) showed a "never say die" attitude and staged a comeback by splitting the events with Sue Lee (Saint Paul Bicycle Racing Club).

Next week's racing promises to be very interesting, with many places still very much up in the air, and a few intense rivalries shaping up. Racing will start promptly at 1:00 pm on June 21, 1998, for the 3rd and last race date in this year's Foley/Mansfield Track Racing Series.
