Who says it always rains in Seattle! For the second weekend in a row the sun gods were shining on the racers in the Pacific Northwest. The cool 50 degree day didn't slow down the 225 racers that came to challenge the leg breaking 1/2 mile climb on the 3 mile circuit!
Thanks to all those who attended and helped out with the race. I promise you the Mason Lake Road Race is a lot easier course.

Pro - Cat 1 & 2 Men - 47 riders - 42 miles (14 circuits)
The Pro - Cat 1 & 2 race started fast with an early break on lap 4 by Jamal Hahn, Mick Walsh and John Grochau (Lemond/Bike Gallery). By lap 8 These three had built a 2 minute lead over the field and 1 minute over two chasers - John Leonard & Cory Domingues. At this point the lead three started to falter when John Grochau, obvisually taxed from his 20 kilometer break the day before, dropped out of the break. Jamal Hahn soon left Mick Walsh alone and road solo to what he thought would be a victory.
Meanwhile back in the pack - 2 minutes back with 4 laps to go - Paul Dahkle (Nutra Fig) start to jack things up bringing Kenny Williams (Saturn of Bellevue) and a few other riders of the front of the main group. This last hard surge by the group shed a lot of dead wood of the back of the pack leaving about 25 riders to fight it out for 5th - 10th.
With one lap to go - Jamal Hahn said "I looked back and I didn't see anyone coming - it wasn't until I got to the top of the hill when I saw John Leonard and Cory Domigues coming on real fast". Leonard caught Hahn in the last 100 meters to steal the victory from the man who had been off the front all day. Hahn did hold of Domingues to get second. Mick Walsh road a fantastic race to capture 4th a alone. Kenny Williams took what was left of the pack in the field sprint.
