1998 Final Season Rankings for the
Montana Supercup Cyclocross

Below you will find the 1998 Final Season Rankings for the six race Montana Supercup Cyclocross season. This years races started in October and consisted of one race in Helena and Billings and two races in Bozeman and Missoula. Jamul Hahn dominated this years elite men’s circuit winning five races with little difficulty. He raced for Ray’s Boathouse in 1998 Long-time elite mountain bike racer Donovan Lynch of Gallatin Valley Bicycle Club in Bozeman raced extremely well at the season finally in Missoula to squeek into second place of first time cross racer Doug Swanson who raced for Montana State University.

The Women’s division was won by Missoula’s Anne Blanch Adams who won all three of the races she showed up to. She races for Peninsula Velo. Eva Karau racing for Missoula Bicycle Works, came in second and Five Valley Velo’s Monica Tranel finished third.

The Men’s B division was dominated by two riders. Matt Hayes of Yellowstone Valley Bicycle Club and Jason Frank raced head to head all season with Hayes winning the season rankings by 10 points. Scott Boyles who races for Great Divide was third.

The Mens Masters division was also dominated. Bozeman’s John Engen was the only rider in the state to race in all six races. Second place went to Ed Vanaelstyn (racing for Five Valley Velo).

This years series was marked by a record number of female participants and this was also the first year with juniors racing. The Hofferber brothers from Bozeman dominated the Junior division and hopefully set an example that will bring others out to the race course. 

MONTANA CYCLOCROSS SERIES SEASON POINTS STANDINGS

For each race racer receives 1 point for each person they beat plus 10 bonus points for first place, 6 bonus points for second place, 4 bonus points for third place, 2 bonus points for fourth place, and 1 bonus point for fifth place. At the end of the season each racers single lowest score will be dropped. Ties will be broken by head to head comparison.
