(Montana Super Cup Cyclocross #6)
Sunday November 15th
Missoula, Montana
From Jeff Crouch
After a six races around Montana in the last eight weeks the Montana Cyclocross season wrapped up in Missoula on Sunday with the State Championships. The race was held at a new venue which had race director Jeff Crouch a little worried before the race. "Well, I dont quite know what to expect." he said "We have never had a race on this course before and I will be very interested to see what the racers and the fans think of it." Crouch didnt need to worry though as the racers and fans both enjoyed the venue located at the Spurgin/ Tower parks on the site of an old BMX track. The short loop was contained within a fairly small area which allowed fans to be able to see almost the entire course from one vantage point. What they saw was the continuation of several season long trends.
In the Mens A race Jamul Hahn (Rays Boathouse) blew the field into pieces on a hard surge in the second lap. The lead was his for the rest of the race and he finished with a two minute margin on second place Jason Van Marle. The real action was a fight for third place with Brink Kuchenbrod charging through the field after a dismal start. He moved up from 9th place to finish 4th.
The Womens race saw a similar scenario as Anne-Blanche Adams took her second race of the year by a comfortable margin over Monica Tranel-Michini.
The Mens B Race was won by Dave Harrison and the Masters race was won by Jon Engen.
