Wow, what a year in ’97! Bigger turnouts than I can remember! Entrance into three state parks, and great racing at the Indiana State Fairgrounds made for quite a memorable year! Who said that government and bike racing could not get along. We are going to ride this "bike nirvana" into the 1998 racing season.

The Governor’s Cup Cycling Race Series held at Shakamak, Tippecanoe, Ft. Harrison and the State Fairgrounds proved to be a very successful series embedded in the overall IRS ’98. No four corner crits here! Quality road racing done at cool venues adds up to one kick ass series. Be there or be mercilessly dropped.

The Best of Midwest as of this writing is in question. We are working on getting this site once again. Look for details on our web site and at future races. If we do have it, those too chicken to climb or afraid of the drive are missing one great weekend. Two quality road races among the scenic woodlands and hills of Southern Indiana and a challenging time trial are the ingredients of the Best. See why racers mark their vacation schedule in April so not to miss this race!

Two races near Columbus, IN are new to the schedule. Great prize money/primes will greet the riders from the Midwest. Help celebrate the weekend in Columbus. Your wallet will thank you. The race at Lafayette is new as well. Another fun race venue.

IRS ’98 is going high tech. Thanks to TrueSports, we have our own web site that is updated and current—yes! Visit our website (www.truesport.com/Bike) and you will see the IRS ’98 schedule with results, pictures, and hopefully articles about past IRS ’98 races. Check it out! Have a good year and see you at the races.

Best,

Dan

UPDATES FROM DAN:

June 4:

Big Mountain Road Race has been cancelled. We will be having a new race--Crane Road Race on August 2. Crane Road Race will count at 1.5 points rather than the usual 1.0 - the UCI deemed it appropriate that we upgrade this race.
